The area's picturesque setting, moderate year 'round climate, and affordable cost of living attract visitors from throughout the nation, many of whom become permanent residents. You will be impressed with the scenery by taking a short drive from Mountain Home in any direction during any season. Year round fishing and comparatively low cost of living are the most common reasons for relocating to the Twin Lakes area. This part of the Ozarks has a secret you have to personally experience to believe. The people are the highest quality, most friendly and loving group of people you will have experienced in recent years. It's not uncommon to hear "it reminds me of what it was like when I was little" when somebody finally realizes what folks are like around here in general. You will rarely hear a horn blow in traffic. You will rarely run into someone who is obviously having a "bad day". Mountain Home has a Wal-Mart Supercenter, Lowes, and Home Depot all located at the same intersection on the east side of town. All were built since the late 90s. There are loads of restaurants, churches, and banks as well.
